Or does God give husbands the authority to discipline their wives? If so how can a Christian husband discipline his wife in an effective way that is pleasing to God? When we hear the word discipline in the context of wives this can be a scary term for many. It invokes images of husbands beating their wives and knocking them around or locking them in closets.

The following article is primarily based on a discussion of radiocarbon dating found in The Biblical Chronologist Volume 5, Number 1. Full details and references can be found there. Radiocarbon dating is based on a few relatively simple principles. There are many carbon atoms in our environment. The vast majority of these are 12C pronounced “c twelve” , the stable isotope of carbon. However, cosmic radiation constantly collides with atoms in the upper atmosphere.
Part of the result of these collisions is the production of radiocarbon 14C, pronounced “c fourteen” , carbon atoms which are chemically the same as stable carbon, but have two extra neutrons. Radiocarbon is not stable; over time radiocarbon atoms decay into nitrogen atoms.

Now I am aged My research at this website is that of a Secular Humanist. Secular Humanists seek to explain the Bible’s concepts as evolving from within the context of the Ancient Near East and its religious notions regarding the origins of the world, why man was created and what his purpose in life is. This article in a nutshell: Man’s toil will provide the gods with life’s necessities: The gods’ eternal Sabbath Rest from toil on the earth was made possible by man toiling in their place in the gardens of edin.
That day of peaceful quiet Rest and Sleep occurred on the 7th day of the Shuruppak Flood with man’s annihilation. The Mesopotamian myths, then, agree with Genesis: These, for me, are the “new twists” the Hebrews have applied to the earlier Mesopotamian myths! Via a series of brilliantly orchestrated inversions and reversals or “new twists” to old Mesopotamian motifs and concepts the nomadic Hebrew shepherds apparently recast the Mesopotamian city-dwellers’ myths which had man being the ruthlessly exploited innocent victim of the gods, instead it is God who is the victim of a rebellious, unappreciative, evil-hearted mankind.
Why did they do this? The city-dwellers despised and feared the nomads characterizing them as uncouth and a threat to civilization as cut-throats, thieves, bandits and raiders of cities out for plunder. The nomads had the “correct” understanding of man’s origins and his relationship with his Creator, the smug city-dwellers had it all wrong.

Seventy Sevens of Years til the coming of the Messiah The Bible’s bold declaration that it is the divine and protected word of God is supported by any number of amazing, seemingly impossible prophecies and their fulfillments. The Bible is infallible if and only if it makes no false or misleading statements on any matter of faith and practice. The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy uses the term in this sense, saying, “Infallibility and inerrancy may be distinguished but not separated. The proposal suggests that the “integrity” of biblical text—to include its present-day message, purpose, and content—has never been corrupted or degraded.
In the Catholic church, the reaction produced the concept of papal infallibility whereas, in the evangelical churches, the infallibility of the Bible was asserted. Both are antimoderne and literalist. Lambrecht notes that John Wesley , the founder of Methodism , used the word “infallible” to describe the Scriptures.
Feb 15, · What Does the Bible Actually Say About Dating? God’s Word has a lot to say about our relationships. but the concept of dating didn’t even exist in biblical times. If your expectations are unreasonable or unrealistic then you will not simply be disappointed, you will frustrate them. Understanding some of the purposes behind human relationships will go a long way in shaping our expectations. So what are some of the purposes of human relationships? The Bible gives us a picture that includes both spiritual and social functions to our relationships. A myriad of verses we find the Scriptures speaking with clarity about the role relationships play in our lives.
Foundational to all of these roles, however, is their role as pointer to the gospel. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. That is a remarkable, if not sometimes terrifying, teaching. Our relationships have the power to point to the gospel or to drive people from it. This is why making relationships all about us is such a complete failure and distortion. Relationships are not all about us, they are about the gospel.
